How La Terrazza Began

La Terrazza is built on the vision of Head Chef Raffaele Lauriola. He wanted to bring the flavours and ethos of Italian cooking to the UK, with a contemporary twist. A focus on fresh ingredients and traditional staples is at the heart of everything we do, but we have also created a unique Italian tapas style of dining.

La Terrazza first opened in 2013 as part of the Hotel Xenia, providing a casual Italian dining experience for hotel guests and members of the public alike. The combination of main dishes with smaller Italian tapas style plates allows our guests to sample a range of delicious flavours and enjoy our food at their leisure. This relaxed atmosphere is enhanced by the bright, colourful decor that is a world away from the overly formal vibe you expect in fine dining establishments. Italian dining is not just about the food, it’s about spending long afternoons with friends and family, socialising and sharing in a culinary experience. . Our Italian menu offer a wide selection of flavours, dished and wines from several Italian regions helps bringing all day experiences from Breakfast, lunch, afternoon teas, Dinner to the very Traditional Aperitivo to the heart of Kensington.

Since opening the main restaurant, we have expanded to create the Conservatory area. This is the perfect space for lunchtime diners working in the Kensington area or those looking for a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine and some delicious charcuterie on a summer afternoon.

Although he has created a contemporary Italian tapas twist on many classics, Raffaele still stays true to the core principles of Italian cooking and there are plenty of old favourites you will recognise on the menu. All of the dishes are created using the highest quality ingredients so, even though we are focused on building a relaxed dining experience, the food is still the star of the show.
